wilderness retreats

The wilderness holds some of the most powerful natural healing medicine. At innernature we work within the context of the wilderness in many ways. We offer a variety of wilderness retreats: individual, couple, group, father and son, and family retreats.

Men’s retreats

Since 2001 innernature has been leading wilderness rite-of-passage trips. These trips have been designed to help people determine their life purpose and mark a transition. We work with teens, recovery centers, families, oranizations, fraternity men, sorority women, and other specific groups.

At innernature we see tremendous value in working with individuals in the context of a group. Group work allows participants to receive feedback about how others are experiencing them. The daily behavior in our lives is often rooted in roles and dynamics we learned in our families when we were young. These roles and dynamics can become ingrained, leading us to express ourselves and relate to others in habitual and constricted ways. Feedback from group members can help us become aware of our habits and constrictions. And awareness, in turn, opens the door to choice, expansion, and creativity.

Family retreats

How often do you and your family get outside and really connect? Are there conflicts that are too much to deal with at home? We want to support you and your family in exploring connection away from all the distractions of home. We believe in a systems approach that it is never just one person in the family—that in order to heal and move past our stuck places, let’s discover what is happening in the system.

Father and Son retreats

When was the last time you and your dad or you and your son did something special together? Our culture seems mainly to encourage relatively superficial contact between fathers and sons. Our weekend retreats give fathers and sons the opportunity to find more intimate and satisfying ways to connect with each other

Individual retreats

Spending time alone in the wilderness can be an invaluable way of becoming aware of who you really are. Our individual retreats can be as short as one overnight or as long as a week. No matter the length, all are facilitated by a trained psychotherapist. Options include receiving intensive therapy and designing your own rite-of-passage that we would then facilitate for you.
